Poochakkal(പൂച്ചാക്കല്‍) is very beautiful place in kerala state in india. It is a small island surrounded with backwaters. The place is famous for panchara manal (white sand), karimeen, kallu etc. Thaliyaparambu temple famous for KALAM KARY is here. Poochackal is the most important small town.

Located jointly in Thycattussery and Panavally panchayaths. It is the financial and business capital of this area. It is about 14 km from Cherthala, 8km from Vaikom and 25 km from Ernakulam. Three Plus Two schools, one VHSC, one BEd centre, one TTC are here in Poochakkal. Royal theater, KC movies are the main movie theaters. Nagari Sree Dharmasastha Temple, Sreekandeswaram Mahadevar Temple, Elikkattu Sree dharma sastha Temple, Edapangazhi sreekrishna temple,Thycattuserry Bhagavathy "MOOLASTHANAM" at Eloor KALARY Thevarvattom, Thevarvattom Masjid, Manappuram St.Theresas church are the main worship places. Poochackal market is one of the biggest market in North Cherthala. There are two nationalised Banks (Federal Bank[with ATM] & State Bank of Travancore), One Alleppey Dist Co-Operative Bank, Chertala service Co-Opertive Bank, Sub Treasury, KSFE are the financial Institutions. Poochakkal police station and Land Registration Office fulfills the needs for the entire Thycattusserry Block. In fact, this Block Panchayath can be renamed after Poochakkal. Appleadayproerties's NEWCOCHIN' project is coming up here. Lot of health care institutions and agencies are also serving the people according to their choices. Kunjarath Vydian, Mathachan Clinic, and other Heomeopathic cinics are well known in this area. A new multi-speciality hospital ('Poochakkal Medical Center') is under construction and is opened now its 1st block by Sri. Vayalar Ravi (Minister for Overseas Indian affairs - Govt. of India)and Sri. G. Sudhakaran (Minister for Coir, and Cooperation - Govt. of Kerala) on 25th April 2010, would serve more people with modern medical standards and facility. At present, Gynacology, Peadiatrics, General Surgery, Orthopeadic, Neurology, and General Physicians are the departments functioning in this hospital. This project is one of the model projects for rural areas by non-resident Indians, and an initiative of First Charity International, an NGO, also actively taking care lot of humanitarian and charitable activities all over India and abroad.
