Singam (English: Lion) is a 2010 Tamil action film directed by Hari, starring Surya and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles.[1] The film, produced by Studio Green and distributed by Sun Pictures, released on 28 May 2010.[2][3]

Plot

Set in the backdrop of Nallore, a small town in Thoothukudi District, the film revolves around inspector Durai Singam (Surya), who joined the service incisively because of his father’s wish. He settles every dispute in town patiently with his gentle talks. Then comes Kavya (Anushka), a city girl on vacation who promptly falls in love with him. Everything seems to be marked by good fortune until Mayil Vaaganam (Prakash Raj) comes across Durai Singam for a condition bail.Mayil vaaganam sends one of his henchmen to sign instead of him.Singam get angered and opposes Mayil Vaaganam. Mayil vaaganam cant do anything because Singam supporters are huge, it is singam hometown so he cant do anything against him. He cant handle this embarrassment so he wantedly transfers singam as Inspector for Thiruvanmayur in chennai.Mayil vaaganam tortures and gives pressure to singam and singam decides to leave his job but Kavya motivates singam. Mayil vaaganam involves in Child trafficking kidnaps kavya sister. Singam takes action against it by this he got promotion to Assistant Commissioner for Anti kidnapping force, from this Cat and mouse chase starts between Singam and Mayil vaaganam. The much-awaited Hari-Suriya combo is back in this landmark 25th film of Suriya. The story was initially narrated to Vijay for his 50th film by Hari but for some reasons Vijay could not do it and Suriya lapped it up.

The film started rolling in Kutralam in the last week of August. The first schedule was completed in Tirunelveli, Ambasamudram, Kutralam, Karaikudi and Thuthukudi while the second schedule was shot in Chennai, Hyderabad and Vizag. A song shot was taken in Dubai in the Creek Park and in qantab beach,muscat.[citation needed] This film was later filmed in and around Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts. A fight scene was shot near the AVM Hospital in Tuticorin and also a song was shot in the fishing harbour in Tuticorin and many others scenes were in Tirunelveli district.[citation needed]
