In October 2005, [[Trent Reznor]] hired Carapetis to be the touring drummer for [[Nine Inch Nails]] due to incumbent drummer [[Jerome Dillon]]'s health problems. He has since been replaced by [[Josh Freese]] ([[A Perfect Circle]]/[[The Vandals]]) who previously drummed for the band in a handful of prior dates. There have been no formal announcements detailing his departure or the reasons for his replacement.

In 2004 and 2005, Carapetis toured full-time with Jimmy Barnes in Australia and New Zealand. In July 2005, Alex toured with Delta Goodrem on Delta's Visualise Tour. Other artists with whom he has worked include Ian Moss, Diesel, Nathan Cavaleri, and Teenager (Nick Littlemore from PNAU).
