After studying jazz at the Adelaide Conservatorium for one year in 2000, he moved to Sydney in order to further his music career. In 2004 and 2005, Carapetis toured full-time with Jimmy Barnes in Australia and New Zealand. In July 2005, Alex toured with Delta Goodrem on Delta's Visualise Tour.
