Simon Prast is a director and actor from Auckland, New Zealand and is also standing as a as a mayoral candidate in the October Auckland mayoral election.
Theatre
Prast graduated from Theatre Corporate Drama School in 1984 and went on to perform at the Mercury and Downstage Theatres. He was Auckland Theatre Company's founding director from March 1992 - February 2003. During his tenure, he produced and / or directed over sixty mainbill productions including The Graduate, The Rocky Horror Show, Hair, Death of a Salesman, Haruru Mai, The Daylight Atheist, Wit, Art, Closer, The Judas Kiss, A Streetcar Named Desire and 12 Angry Men.[citation needed]
Film and Television
Prast is known for roles in the evening soap Gloss (1987) and Shortland Street
Politics
In June 2010, Prast announced his intention to stand as a mayoral candidate in the October Auckland mayoral election.[1]
