Eliza Doolittle

Eliza Doolittle (born Eliza Sophie Caird,[1] 15 April 1988)[citation needed] is an English singer–songwriter and former child actress. She is signed to the Parlophone record label and her debut album was released 12 July 2010.

Background

Doolittle was born in Westminster, London.[1] She attended Channing School for Girls in Highgate Village, North London. She is the daughter of John Caird (director) and Frances Ruffelle (who is also a singer), granddaughter of Sylvia Young.

Her musical theatre credits include the RSC adaptations of The Secret Garden (2000) and Les Miserables (1996).[citation needed]

Music

The first release from Doolittle is a self-titled EP that features four tracks 'Rollerblades', 'Moneybox', 'Police Car' and 'Go Home'. This was released on 29 November 2009. Tracks from the EP were remixed by Plastic Little ('Rollerblades'), Sam Young and Jamie from The xx ('Money Box'). The EP received radio plays from Rob Da Bank, Nick Grimshaw,[2] Fearne Cotton and Jo Whiley.

Doolittle has so far played live gigs at the Jazz Club[3] and the Notting Hill Arts Club as part of the club night 'Yo Yo'. She has also supported Alphabeat on tour.

Her debut single "Skinny Genes" was released on 12 April 2010. The song had featured in an advert for very.co.uk. She told BBC's Steve Lamacq the song is "a funny scenario if you didn’t like someone, if they were really annoying, but you had a good time under the sheets." [4] Doolittle's second release is titled "Pack Up" and was released on 5 July 2010, debuting at #12 on the Official UK Singles Chart on the 11th July 2010.[5]

She recorded the song "Running For Life" for the soundtrack to the film AdULTHOOD.[citation needed]

She is set to tour with Jamie Cullum during summer 2010, beginning at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and ending at London Palladium.[citation needed]

She has performed on the companion show to Channel 4's Big Brother, Big Brothers Little Brother. [citation needed]
