His political party is the Indian National Congress. He is the son of the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.[1][2]

Political Life

Jagan started his political career by campaigning for Congress party leaders in 2004 elections in Kadapa District. In 2009, he was elected to the Parliament from Kadapa constituency.

His political career took a new innings with the demise of his father and Chief minister Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. His father's former chief adviser and confidante, KVP Ramachandra Rao, is considered instrumental for pressing the candidature for the Chief Minister’s post[3]. Ultimately, the Congress central leadership appointed former Finance Minister Rosaiah as CM.
