ClubHouze Performing Arts Academy

ClubHouze is the new name for Brightstars. It is a performing arts academy for children from up to 13 years of age. It provides acting, singing and dance classes in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

History

ClubHouze[1] was initially founded as Brightstars in 2003. The company re-branded in April 2010 and changed its name to “ClubHouze”.

The re-brand came after a series of changes within the company since it was purchased by Marinya Holdings Pty Ltd at the end of 2008[2]. These changes included the separation from the Brightstars Talent Agency[3] and discontinuation of their “Model TV” program.

Programs

In 2008, Drew Anthony joined Brightstars as Program Director where he extensively re-developed the programs and has continued to develop programs for ClubHouze. ClubHouze run combined music and dance classes for Under 3 and 4 year olds with the Twinkles program and combined acting, singing and dance classes for 5 and 6 year olds in the Access All Areas program. They also have performing arts classes for 7 to 9 year olds and 10 - 13 year olds. The drama class is called “Act Out Loud”, the singing lesson is called “Rock On” and the dance program is called “Dare 2 Dance”

Twinkles

Twinkles by ClubHouze is a 45 minute singing and dance lesson that is set to music for children under 5 years. Twinkles classes aim to develop a child's gross motor skills, coordination and imagination through play and the performing arts[4].

Access All Areas

Access All Areas is designed to address the developmental needs of 5 and 6 year olds through a combination of acting, singing and dance classes.

Act Out Loud

ClubHouze drama classes provide age appropriate scripts, characters and scenes with the aim of developing mental awareness, physical expression and focus in children.

Rock On

Singing lessons at ClubHouze aim to educate children in different music style along with teaching technique and music theory.

Dare 2 Dance

The dance program teaches children the basics of hip hop. It aims to develop fitness, motor skills, body awareness and movement in children.

Staff

Teachers

Each teacher has experience working in the performing arts industry and regularly offer first-hand experience of the entertainment industry. The teachers at ClubHouze are fully trained and undertake a Government Working With Children check ("WWC")[5].

Principals

Each ClubHouze venue has a Principal that works closely with teachers to oversee classes. Like teachers, each Principal has a Working with Children Check and has been fully trained.

Guest Choreographers

In 2010 ClubHouze have had guest choreographers for the hip hop dance program. In Term 1, So You Think You Can Dance contestant Heath Keating helped create a program, followed by SYTYCD hopeful Jess Stokes in Term 3.

Previous guest choreographers include BJ Rourke from So You Think You Can Dance 2009 Top 6 (Term 3, 2009) and all round performer and 2008 SYTYCD Top 10 dancer, Rhiannon Villareal (Term 4, 2009).
