Overview

Launched in 2004, Team San Jose is a non-profit management corporation that operates the San Jose Convention Center and cultural venues such as South Hall, Parkside Hall, San Jose Civic, California Theatre, Center for the Performing Arts and Montgomery Theater, and serves as the convention and visitors bureau for San Jose. Team San Jose is an economic driver in Silicon Valley, evolving into a $20 million company with more than 300 employees.

Team San Jose has become known for its unique collaboration between the local hotels, arts groups, and local labor for meetings and events. Their model is becoming influential in the way meetings and conventions industry serves customers by utilizing a one team approach for all event services needs rather than handing them off to multiple organizations after the meeting is booked. The Event Services Manager handles everything [2] removing stress from event planners so they and their delegates have more time and energy to play in San Jose.

Team San Jose’s success has supported the local economy by attracting events and visitors which drive spending in local hotels, cultural and convention venues, restaurants and attractions, which in turn helps create jobs. The organization’s service has received raves from planners, with 98 percent of its customers returning to San Jose. Team San Jose is a strategic partner supporting the success of local events, and drives travel to our community through sales, marketing and public relations efforts. They provide services such as concierge assistance for major meetings, visitor desks at the airport and convention center, as well as planning guides available in print or download.

Arts and Culture Impact

Since its inception Team San Jose has worked closely with local Bay Area groups to cultivate grassroots events. Past and present collaborations include the San Jose Jazz Festival, Zer01 Biennale, Artsopolis, 1stAct, The City of San Jose Public Art Program and other local events such as the South First Friday Art Walk [3]
