Amy Meredith

Amy Meredith is an Australian New Wave Music band who formed in 2006, fronted by Christian Lo Russo, with Joel Chapman and Cameron Laing on guitars, Wade Osborn on bass guitar and Kosta Theodosis on drums.

Music career

2007-08: Amy Meredith EP

Before Amy Meredith recorded their first EP they were scouted by the Warner Music Group. Warner thought they had them signed were betrayed by Christian Lo Russo, who invited heads of other companies to a showcase, and so Warner cancelled the deal. The band also lost a second deal with a Japanese label.[1] In January 2008, Amy Meredith recorded their debut EP with Sydney producers, John Hardy and Peter Mayes. It was released digitally on June 7, 2008[2] and physically on August 22, 2008[3] The EP featured 4 tracks written by Amy Meredith but made no major impact, and the band were rejected by Triple J (the radio demographic they originally aspired to appeal to) who told them that they did not fit their format.[1]

2009-present: Restless

In 2009, Amy Meredith toured with Snob Scrilla[4], Cobra Starship[5] and Evermore[6], and supported Good Charlotte on their acoustic concert at the Factory Theatre in Newtown, New South Wales[7]. On October 23, 2009, Amy Meredith released their debut single "Pornstar"[8],peaking at #65 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

In early 2010, they toured with Welsh rock band, Stereophonics on their "Keep Calm, Carry On World Tour"[9] and released their second single, "Lying"[10] The single peaked at #10 on the ARIA Singles Chart, making it their first top-10 single and has since received gold certification. Amy Meredith headlined a national tour on the back of this single during April and May.[11] Their debut album, Restless was released on July 2, 2010 to rave reviews[12] It debuted at #8 on the ARIA Top 40 Albums Chart.[13] Amy Meredith are currently touring with Grinspoon through August 2010[14] and will headline their second national tour, the "Restless Tour", in September and October[15]
