This is a list of serials of the science fiction drama television series The Sarah Jane Adventures. The first episode, a 60-minute special, premièred on 1 January 2007. A series of ten[1] 25-minute episodes aired from 24 September until 19 November 2007.[2] Series 1 is made up of five two-part serials;[3] series 2 consists of six two-part serials. A third, 12-episode[4] series produced by Russell T Davies began airing on 15 October 2009. A twelve-part fourth series is in pre-production, with a fifth twelve-part series confirmed for production and broadcast in 2011.[5]

Comic Relief special (2009)

A short, 5-minute special was made for the 2009 Comic Relief appeal and featured Ronnie Corbett and K-9.[8]

Series 4 (2010)

A fourth series was commissioned for transmission in the Autumn. The series will again consist of twelve 25-minute episodes.

Phil Ford, Rupert Laight and Joseph Lidster, will write episodes. Gareth Roberts will be writing two stories - one on his own and another with Clayton Hickman (former editor of Doctor Who Magazine).[16]

Matt Smith will guest star as the Eleventh Doctor in episodes 5 and 6, along with Katy Manning, who will be reprising her role as the Third Doctor's companion Jo Grant. The story will be written by former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies, the first time he has written for the Eleventh Doctor. It will also include the show's first visit to an alien planet.[17]

In this series, Luke Smith will go to Oxford University, and K-9 will go with him.[18]
