Stephen Fincher is a gospel singer, farmer, businessman and the 2010 Republican nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives in Tennessee's 8th congressional district vacated by Democrat John S. Tanner. He is facing Democrat State Senator Roy Herron in the general election.

Early life, education and career

Fincher is a managing partner in Fincher Farms. The West Tennessee-based business farms cotton, corn, soybeans, and wheat. When Fincher was 9 years old, he joined a singing ministry started by his grandmother, "The Fincher Family". The Finchers sing at over 100 events annually.

Fincher is running against Democratic nominee State Senator Roy Herron, Tea Party candidate Donn Janes, who earlier dropped out of the Republican primary, and Independent Mark J. Rawles. CQ Politics has the election as a toss up.[1] He has received the endorsements from former Governor Winfield Dunn, Citizens United, Eagle Forum, Family Research Council, Concerned Women for America, and State Senator Dolores Gresham.[2] Fincher has over $420,000 cash on hand. Herron has over $1.1 million cash on hand.[3]

Personal life

Fincher and his wife, Lynn, have three children: John Austin (14), Noah (11), and Sarah (7). He is a lifetime member of Archer's Chapel United Methodist Church[5] located in Frog Jump in Crockett County, Tennessee.

Stephen has raised money for the Methodist Church, Dixie Youth Baseball, NOAH, and Relay for Life. He is a member of the NRA.
