:::::::You're thinking of the WP:Right to vanish, but that's for someone who wants to leave Wikipedia forever. In the case of a WP:Clean start, everything about this current account stays as it is -- the contributions, the block logs, etc (of course you can blnak the userpage and talk page before you go, if you like, but it'll all be preserved in the history). This account doesn't change, it's just that you, will be somebody else, that no one will know is the same person as "Combo Pwner", unless you tell them, or given them reason to figure it out by editing in the same manner; and even if they put two and two together, it doesn't matter al long as your edits are productive and not disruptive. No one's lkely to bother you otherwise. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:45, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

ANI Discussion

Please don't close discussions when you are the subject of them. I've reverted you at ANI, please let an admin close the thread. The best thing you can do right now is to just ignore the thread, you've explained yourself already. Just work on improving the encyclopedia, that'll go a long way towards helping your case. Dayewalker (talk) 02:16, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I read the post on the ANI. Although it may sound cliched, old, and unoriginal, my story is true. He's got a long history of this kind of stuff, so I'm not surprised of what he has done this time. He's done similar stuff to other pages in the past, too. He's a senior in high school and yet he does the same stuff time and time again. I understand your concern and I respect your decision to block my account for 24 hours, but I am being honest here, and I do not appreciate when people quickly put off a legitimate response to a situation.Combo Pwner (talk) 02:52, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the problem with your legitimate response: WP:BROTHER. --132 03:17, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Blocking you for your recent edits is a legitimate response to a situation. Don't worry about it though. After your block, if you come back and edit the encyclopedia constructively, no one will hold it against you. And if you return and your little brother starts vandalizing again, your account will probably be blocked indefinitely. Either way, this block won't matter once it has expired. Dayewalker (talk) 03:21, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. The reason the page I linked to was created was because so many people used the "little brother" excuse. Your activity was blockable and the reasoning didn't help (simply because it's used so often), but if you rise above it, you'll be fine. :) --132 03:32, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Really?

Blocked for a mere day, and now you're "retiring"? Either you don't get that it's necessary to temporarily protect the project (especially biographies of living people from damage, and people who allow others to use their accounts for damage are a huge problem; or there's no such thing as a "brother", and the damage was being done by you. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:30, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am indeed retiring. I do not see a point in editing anything anymore. I have done my duty. None of this is related to the whole problem yesterday. So can I please fade out?Combo Pwner (talk) 23:15, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

adminhelpme I want a clean start. I want a new account not affiliated with the crap my siblings have done on it. Yes, I have considered all options and I am confident and I am sure I want this. When can you fade my account? My ban will be lifted in two or less hours.Combo Pwner (talk) 00:27, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just as it says in the link you gave, you can indeed make a fresh start, after the block is lifted, simply by marking this one retired, creating a new one, and never using this one again. To facilitate the last part, it's best to 'scramble' the password on this account.
Note it is strongly recommended that you inform the Arbitration Committee - just drop them a quick email, stating the name of this (old) account, and your new one. That avoids trouble down the line.
That's all, really; the rest is up to you.
Please, please, please in future, keep your password to yourself. Never let anyone else use your account.
And do not use multiple accounts. It's usually discovered, and can lead to a lengthy (or indefinite) block.  Chzz  ►  00:33, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you do make a clean start, please pay close attention to this section of the rules involved:

Contentious and scrutinized topics

If you have edited topics in the past, in a way that you would be seen as "involved", and you return to the same or similar issues under your new account, then editors may feel that awareness of the old account is needed in order to better understand how to see the actions of the new account.

If your old editing was non-contentious or your new editing is very minor (grammar, spelling, cite improvement, etc) then these kinds of activities probably will not be a concern. But if the old account came to community attention, or the topic is the subject of edit-wars and contentious editing, and especially if your old account was involved or your new account will be, then it may be seen as evading scrutiny not to disclose the old account.

The principle is that clean start is not a license to resume editing in areas the community might need scrutiny or where scrutiny has happened in the past. It is intended for users who wish to move on new areas having learned from the past, or who wish to set aside old disputes and poor conduct.

In other words, don't do making controversial edits to Barack Obama under your new ID. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:14, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry. I know each and every controversial edit/spam my brother has done. I will probably continue to edit in the subjects I have validly edited in the past, plus additional topics. So in about an hour my account will be unbanned, I'll email the Arbitration Community and start new account. I have learned from the past. I await the next hour.Combo Pwner (talk) 01:23, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, if that's all true, then good luck with your new beginning. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:25, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok then. So what info of mine will be faded?Combo Pwner (talk) 01:29, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand -- what do you mean by "faded"? Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:33, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Something I read about "Right to Fade" or something. Ah well, don't worry about it. Have as much of a good time eradicating spammers as my bro had spamming. Combo Pwner...is over.Combo Pwner (talk) 01:39, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're thinking of the WP:Right to vanish, but that's for someone who wants to leave Wikipedia forever. In the case of a WP:Clean start, everything about this current account stays as it is -- the contributions, the block logs, etc (of course you can blnak the userpage and talk page before you go, if you like, but it'll all be preserved in the history).
