Thanks...

...for your contribution to the article Akita Inu!

Sea of Japan naming dispute

Just wondering--were your comments on the lead for my draft of Sea of Japan naming dispute your only concerns, or were you implying you'd only had a chance to look at the lead so far? If you're still working your way through it, that's still totally fine. Please don't take this as any kind of pressure, I just wasn't sure how to interpret the first sentence of your comment. If you have looked through the whole thing (as much as you intend to), then I think I'm going to go ahead and ask to have the protection removed so that I can move over the draft. But if you're still planning to make more comments, I'd much rather hear your points first, as your insight is very helpful. Thanks, Qwyrxian (talk) 04:43, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

P.S.: I have this haunting feeling that I'm about to become involved in the Senkaku Islands article (or subarticles, if it gets split about), too...I didn't intend to have a content focus....but that article has a number of similar problems, at least in terms of formatting and potential for NPOV editing, as the SoJ naming article. Luckily, though, it has a much more active set of people talking, so it's not as easily victimized by drive-by POV pushers (I think).Qwyrxian (talk) 04:43, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to comment on other sections too. Probably little by litte. Unfortunately I'm a sloth. Though SoJ is in a terrible state, it is being protected, but SI is not and a lot of things are going on there. Watching the article is more important to me right now. Best regards. Alright, I'll let it stay as is for a little while longer. Eventually, I can always ask to put it up. I assume it won't be protected after that point, so it will be back to open editing and you can always continue to make changes then. Qwyrxian (talk) 05:16, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Japan-Korea Treaty of 1905

I am contacting you because you participated in a discussion thread about changing the name of Eulsa Treaty to another name.

Summarizing the so-called discussion which began at Talk:Eulsa Treaty in early August here:

A. In an attempt to help us start discussion, options were proposed here and refined here.
  1. Leave it at its current name?
  2. To Japan-Korea Protectorate Treaty?
  3. To Japan-Korea Treaty of 1905?
  4. To 1905 Protectorate Treaty?
  5. Or what?; see the second paragraph of page Eulsa Treaty.
B. Valentim presented the results of a Lexis/Nexis search here. This supplements several Google searches.

In the many weeks of so-called discussion thread development, those opposing the move have either been unwilling or unable to present refutation or counterargument; and therefore, I propose we delay no longer.

In other words, I suggest that there is a consensus to act now on the basis of the Lexis-Nexis search outcome. The time has come for this article to be renamed Japan-Korea Treaty of 1905. --Tenmei (talk) 19:50, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RFC

I am wrapping up a few issues for Senkaku Islands dispute. Since you are a regular participant of the page in the recent times, it would be appropriate to notify you of the discussion I started. Bobthefish2 (talk) 23:21, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have not yet provided further reasons to veto those contents. If I don't see any given in the near future, I will assume you agree with them and add them to the list of things to be included after the page is off protection. Bobthefish2 (talk) 12:51, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

editing discussion posts?

Do you make a practice of editing other users discussion comments? To accuse me of vandalism for restoring my own comment is beyond proper for a wiki editor. 207.119.114.105 (talk) 06:32, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tolstoy

In part, this is a follow-up to the problems you are helping to resolve at Senkaku Islands and Senkaku Islands dispute.

I wonder if you have previously stumbled across this quote?

The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him. -- Leo Tolstoy, 1994

For me, this concept has resonance in a variety of Wikipedia settings. These sentences were introduced to me by someone interested in Metonymy and WP:Polling is not a substitute for discussion WP:Straw poll. Although I still haven't resolved what I think about the context, I do come back again and again to Tolstoy's words.

Perhaps these words might be usefully stored in the back of your mind? --Tenmei (talk) 15:20, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
