*So perhaps you will suggest then how this Encyclopedia should handle the information regarding the solo careers of band members? As an example you could refer to [[Take That]], or suggest another reasonable method. Thanks

please state your name as you seem to only want to put emphasis on aka and pieter and forget as much as possible of ronny for some mysterious reason. might it be you are or were part of the band ? I do have articles backing up my edits and your edits seem to be general , it is bland and unjust. Also you stand warned from being barred. State your relation with the band or your sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knowitallfortoday (talkcontribs)

Welcome

Hello, Anka Wolbert, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Drmies (talk) 21:24, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I didn't start the Anka Wolbert page nor made any edits to it. Anka Wolbert (talk) 12:11, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I know--I'm just trying to avoid even more possible difficulties. This is not to say, of course, that you couldn't post links to reliable sources on that article's talk page, sources which would help the notability of the subject (see WP:RS and WP:N). In its present state it is unlikely to be kept, per Wikipedia's policies on notability, esp. for biographies of living people. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 15:11, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK I will do. Although I noticed I can't get onto Anka Wolbert because it takes me straight through to Clan Of Xymox.. Is it still possible to get into the page itself? Anka Wolbert (talk) 16:46, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. If you click on Anka Wolbert you will be taken to Clan of Xymox but under the title you will see it says (Redirected from [[Anka Wolbert]]). If you click on this link to Anka Wolbert you will be taken to the Anka Wolbert article page. NtheP (talk) 16:53, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So, no: the article has been redirected--that means that the editor who redirected it thought that the subject was not notable enough (by Wikipedia's standards) to warrant its own article. See the final note (in italics) at WP:BAND: undoubtedly that's that that editor was considering. It's a judgment call, of course, but the lack of independent, reliable sources that provided in-depth discussion of the subject indicated that it was going to go that way. Conflict of interest

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Anka Wolbert, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Corvus cornixtalk 21:36, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, biographies of living people must include reliable sources. Corvus cornixtalk 21:36, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The biographies of living people must be sourced to reliable sources. I didn't see any in any of the sourcing that was used in the article. Corvus cornixtalk 22:29, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but that seems more than odd to me. These are references to publicised magazines, articles contributed by journalists to online magazines, and even an encyclopedia. I have made enquiries today by telephone with the Dutch Music Encyclopedia (online since April 2010) and they have ensured me all content is taken from articles published by journalists. Some of the same references are used on Pieter Nooten. I would appreciate it if you looked into the matter a little closer. Anka Wolbert (talk) 23:38, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

All of the links to magazines appear to be reviews, not to articles about yourself. Do those articles provide the details about your life that a biography can be written from, or do they just provide information about your work as a singer and information on the music?

These references support the facts that were written in the biography. This biography is about Anka Wolbert's work as a musician, not a biography about her whole "life". Anka Wolbert (talk) 00:07, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, generally any article whose title is a person's name is considered to be a biography of that person, and as such the standard criteria to decide on inclusion are described at WP:BIO, the notability guideline for biographies. That's what people are getting at here. 67.122.209.190 (talk) 08:29, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
