Rainbow International School is an international school for infant, junior and secondary education in the Kampala district of Uganda.

The Rainbow International School was established in September 1991 as a primary school with 29 children. In September 1995, the school moved to its present 9-acre (36,000 m2) site with newly constructed purpose-built classrooms and administration block and extensive playing fields. The school is in the Kampala district. It is owned by the Midland Group of companies.

Rainbow International School is a relatively low-cost international school catering for children from all parts of the world from ages 3 up to 21 (kindergarten to ‘A’ level) with full-time boarding facilities for students age 7 and above. It is a non-selective school offering education for all abilities, cultures and religions. The school follows the guidelines of the British National Curriculum and employs teaching methods required to succeed in such a system.[1] Rainbow has qualified staff to teach special needs and ESL (English as a Second Language).[2]

The school maintains small class sizes to allows the children to gain a more personal relationship with their teachers at the same time as enabling the teacher to know their children well.

School motto

The school motto is Nil Satis Nisi Optimum,[3] a Latin phrase that means "nothing but the best is good enough". It shares this motto with the English football club Everton F.C.[4] The motto was chosen by the Everton-supporting principal Mr Clifford Green.

Staff

The school principal is Mr Clifford Green. The Head of Primary is Mrs Audrey Dralega. The Head of Secondary is Mr John Toscano. Mr Green has written a book about his early experiences at the school called The Rainbow Academy [5]

Boarding

Full time boarding facilities for students age 7 and above are available. School transport takes the boarders to and from the boarding houses each day. A staff member, along with their family, is resident at the boarding house overseeing all its day-to-day activities.

Career guidance

Trained and qualified careers advisers are available to the students and parents for careers interviews on subject options, possible careers and guidance and counseling on all issues concerning the student's future. Students receive guidance in their decisions about choosing a university, choosing a course to study at university and filling in university applications. The careers department has a dedicated room with an interview section, ten Internet-connected computers and a library full of up-to-date university prospectuses and financial aid and scholarship information.
