:1999, but the euro was adopted as a circulating currency in 2002, will change the article to avoid confusion, thanks for bringing that up. [[User:Miguel.mateo|Miguel.mateo]] ([[User talk:Miguel.mateo|talk]]) 15:00, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

== Summary table is outdated and wrong! ==

Summary table is outdated, anyone making edits please check your country. I added Estonia and added the sums but when adding everything the numbers were wrong before me (Austria is first one wrong - total issues 83, but adding by metal 35+37+6=78).

Sources

Please, if you know any sources where information can be found about all the collectors euro coins (Gold, silver, bymetal ... etc.) please leave them here. Those sources will be used to populate this page. If you see a country with no information about it is that we are looking for sources.

I've found this webpage: http://www.eurocoins.liesemeijer.com/Commemoratives2002.html, hope it helps 82.46.2.58 (talk) 21:36, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Very good start, I am sure from here I can find more sources, many thanks! Miguel.mateo (talk) 22:59, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you see a country with no information about it is that we are looking for sources. Really? Is THIS problem still an issue? The above is the only explanation regarding Italy and Portugal. Though they have some information, they have a table which has their coins until 2008. They seem not to have any country-specific sources... 85.217.47.195 (talk) 13:11, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

== v.s. ===

Hi,

Another editor recently changed all subsections in all articles from === to ==, without any particular reason. I was wondering if there is any consensus out there since I personally liked more the way it used to be. Any opinions?

Thanks, Miguel.mateo (talk) 04:48, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Europa Coins

I just opened the following articles and I hope that you will all help to expand it

In my Opinion

Hi – I know this wont sound very nice to you but in my opinion these pages should also include the €2 commemorative coins. So these pages would serve as the basic structure of commemorative coins - so we would have a page e.g.

  • Euro Commemorative Coins
  • sub-pages like Euro Commemorative Coins (Ireland) – which would include all the euro comm. Coins of country XXX
  • the sub-pages like Euro Commemorative Coins (Ireland) then would also make part of a bigger article “Commemorative Coins of Ireland.

And im also curious that once all these topics are ready is it possible to gather them all under one portal just for euro coins?--Melitikus (talk) 10:02, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am not disagreeing, just a few points:
  • The 2 euro coins are heavily covered, the other commemorative where completely missing in Wikipedia.
  • It is too late to change the name of the articles, since that will imply changing the copyright information of all images.
  • The 2 euro coins are for circulation, while these coins are for collectors.
  • I have no issue adding the 2 euro coins if others agree.
The idea that I have (we talked about it somewhere) is once all articles are built, sources are reliable and information can be obtained from the different sources as soon as new coins are available, then to create a portal for euro collectors, but I have not put too much thoughts yet. Definitely something like latest releases or latestt news with releases to come should be there. Miguel.mateo (talk) 14:35, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey sound like good ideas, Im up for a discussion on it when the articles are finished (so don't forget to remind me), At the moment I don't want to derail my focus untill the articles are complete.Kevin hipwell (talk) 00:25, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am definitely with you Kevin, I am currently working on the Belgium article so we do not have to reinvent the wheel later, I think that if Belgium makes it to FL, then we have a good template for all articles based on the sample. Once that is finished I am definitely into finishing all of them ASAP. Miguel.mateo (talk) 11:42, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Style

In Malta and as far as I know in all the former British colonies when we write let say 3 million in figures we write it this way 3,000,000 but in other countries they write it as 3.000.000 - then if we write 5 euro 25 cents we write €5.25 and they write €5,25 – which system should we use on here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Melitikus (talkcontribs) 14:46, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have always used 3,000,000 & €5.25 that is the way I have been thought.Kevin hipwell (talk) 15:01, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes thats because you live in Ireland :-)--Melitikus (talk) 15:12, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I live in Japan, and it is as you guys have expressed. My English education is mainly American English, that may be the why ;) Miguel.mateo (talk) 15:15, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd guess that some people have probably had very heated argument on this issue.Kevin hipwell (talk) 00:27, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Belgium for FL application

Just FYI, in case you want to follow what happens, I am proposing Belgium for Featured Article List (FL), the discussion is here: Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Euro gold and silver commemorative coins (Belgium) ... Once the experience in this process is obtained, I am planning to propose Austria, Finland and Ireland (which are almost finished, needed to be polished) for FA as well.

Please be ready to any sort of outcome, since the reviewers are experienced editors and they may come with realy interesting and challenging ideas.

Thanks, Miguel.mateo (talk) 10:06, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quick update: The initial opinion was that this should be a Featured List, so I have moved it (I did not want to start a battle when the first three opinions said that a list is better). We have received a lot of good feedback and I have been working on it, so far everything in track, let's see the final result ;) Miguel.mateo (talk) 10:24, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vatican

Hi, the Vatican article is ready, I have also included the €2 commemorative coins but if you disagree about that just delete them.--Melitikus (talk) 19:02, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Austria joined Eurozone in 2002 or 1999?

There is a discrepancy in the joining date. In this article it is said that Austria joined eurozone in 2002 but in the Eurozone article it is said that they joined in 1999. Which date is correct? —Preceding unsigned comment added by (GD) (talkcontribs) 09:52, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1999, but the euro was adopted as a circulating currency in 2002, will change the article to avoid confusion, thanks for bringing that up. Miguel.mateo (talk) 15:00, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
