Gabriel Aivazovsky (Gabriel Ayvazyan, Armenian: Գաբրիել Հայվազյան, Russian: Гаврии́л Константи́нович Айвазо́вский, (1812—1879) — Armenian Archbishop, scientist, historian, brother of the artist Ivan Aivazovsky.
Biography
He was born in Feodosiya into a family of Armenian merchants. He received a scientific education at the monastery of St. Mkhitarist on San Lazaro Island in Venice, then there was also a teacher of Oriental languages, in 1848 have appointed a director of the Armenian College Samuel Moorat in Paris, and subsequently founded the same Armenian college.
