Art From The Heart is an annual fine art auctioning fundraiser held at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California every February. It was established in 1985 to raise funds for the Art Department facilities, supplies, lectures and exhibitions. It features nationally recognized artists from around the country who specialize in contemporary and modern methods. [1] All of the art and items for sale at the program are donated by the artists and various local sponsors. As of 2011, Art From The Heart has reached its twenty-seventh consecutive year of operation.

Organization

The event is championed by Professor Michael Schwager and Exhibitions Coordinator, Carla Stone. Tickets are sold at the gallery the evening of the fundraiser and donations are anticipated. The auction is done by silent ballet and generally begins at 6:00 pm and ends at roughly 9:00 pm. University students volunteer to assist in installing the works, greeting guests and moving and wrapping each piece when they are won. Other items for sale include bottles of wine, restaurant gift certificates, massages and theater and museum tickets.[2]
