Explosions in the Sky is an American post-rock band. The band is currently signed to Temporary Residence Limited, who signed the band on the strength of its demo after only half a listen.
History
Explosions in the Sky was formed in the Permian Basin region of Texas, and later relocated to Austin, Texas in 1999 due to Austin's reputation as one of the premier music scenes in the United States. They quickly gained a reputation for themselves among other established local bands such as Lift To Experience. They also garnered a small amount of media attention as a result of their second album, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever, due to rumors linking it to the September 11, 2001 attacks (the liner notes of this album, released September 10, 2001, contained a picture of an airplane and the text "This Plane Will Crash Tomorrow").
They have recently released The Rescue EP, and a remastered version of their first album, How Strange, Innocence. A full album is expected in late 2006 or early 2007.
