Zardonic

Zardonic is the stage name of Federico Agreda, a venezuelan drum and bass DJ, producer and remixer, referenced as the biggest dark Drum & Bass act in Latin America[1].

Biography

Federico Agreda started composing music in earnest at the age of 16, and at 18 was named Best Keyboardist at the 2002-2003 Metal Made in Venezuela Awards[2]. He gained a cult following in the Venezuelan metal scene under his black metal moniker Gorepriest, which evolved through various metal incarnations and numerous projects, further distinguishing himself as an in-demand remixer for extreme metal bands including The Berzerker (Australia)[3] and Gorgoroth (Norway)[4].

Though best-known now for his drum and bass, Zardonic's repertoire encompasses the industrial, metal, goth and ambient genres as well under different aliases. His remix of Nine Inch Nails' The Hand That Feeds became a global sensation on the NIN Remix Web site[5].

In 2006 Zardonic’s first dnb tracks (Her Lust for Blood and Scourge) were signed to California label Death Brigade Records. Later this year, he also founded Zardonic Recordings, an independent drum and bass free net label.[7]

In 2007, AK1200, a founding father of the North American dnb scene, selected Zardonic's Moonlight Ceremony for his Weapons of Tomorrow mixed compilation CD which further heightened his profile[8], leading to his tunes becoming supported by international dnb stars including Dieselboy, Pendulum, John B and Counterstrike[9].

2009 saw the release by Big Riddim Recordings of Zardonic's remix of AK1200's classic Junior's Tune[10], and being commissioned by Dieselboy to do sound design for the Planet of the Drums 10th Anniversary Tour video intro. In a Dieselboy interview for Broken Beats on May 8th, Zardonic was named as one of the five outstanding artists in Drum & Bass at the time[11].

His catalog of remixes continues to grow as well as his collaborations with other artists including Counterstrike (South Africa) and Messinian (Philadelphia, PA, USA) who rapped over their infamous Policia track which was a huge dance floor hit, even dropped by dnb legends Andy C and DJ Hype. Zardonic's other label affiliations include Freak Recordings, Counterstrike, and Cymbalism[12].

In 2010, Zardonic toured Europe alongside Joanna Syze, compiling a total of 12 gigs in Spain, Austria, Romania and Bulgaria[13]. Shortly after, his most representative studio mix Retaliation was released on drum and bass web site Dogsonacid.com paired with an in-depth interview.[14] The first Human Imprint release also happened this year, entitled South Of Human EP.[15]

In 2011, Zardonic got three tracks included in Dieselboy's latest studio mix entitled Unleashed.[16]
