Yes, Dear is a television sitcom which premiered in 2000 on CBS. It stars Anthony Clark, Jean Louisa Kelly, Mike O'Malley, Liza Snyder, and Joel Homan. The generic nature of the show and the fact that all these performers had recently starred in their own failed sitcoms led critics to savage it as one of the worst new shows of the season and a likely candidate for first cancellation of the season. Instead, Yes, Dear scored strong ratings for CBS over the next four seasons, in spite of little promotion and a number of timeslot switches.

Finally, in spring 2004, CBS pulled the plug on the program, but then ordered an additional 13 episodes to be shown at a later date. With the cancellation of the John Goodman sitcom Center of the Universe, CBS began airing the new Yes, Dear episodes on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 in the 9:30 PM EST timeslot. The show did better than many expected and CBS ordered an additional season for 2005-2006. The initial order was for 22 episodes but CBS reduced that number to 15 (13 new episodes and two holdovers) in November of 2005. CBS confirmed to The Washington Post that the show will not return in the 2006-2007 season [1].

Thanks to an untimely pre-emption, the Season Five finale was not aired in May 2005. Instead, it was aired in September of 2005 a week before the "official" start of the season. Thus, many fans were unaware that a new episode was being broadcast. Another episode held over from Season Five due to a pre-emption was finally aired in January of 2006. Thanks to these pre-emptions, continuity for the series was thrown into disarray.

CBS has yanked Yes, Dear off the schedule once again, as of March 13, 2006, to make room for Julia Louis-Dreyfus' new sitcom, The New Adventures of Old Christine. [2]

Yes, Dear is currently aired in syndication on cable station TBS as well as locally in many markets.
