BGC (Begum Gulchemonara) Trust University Bangladesh (Bengali: বেগম গুলচেমনারা ট্রাস্ট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) also known as BGC Trust University Bangladesh is a private university. It was established in 2002. The university is 34 km from Chittagong Port City at a place popularly known as BGC Viddyanagar by the side of the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Road. The main campus in Chandanaish, spread over 100 acres (0.40 km²) of land, consists of a private university, a private medical college, a 1,000-bed hospital, a nurses' institute, a dental college, a college of physiotherapy and an IT institute.

In 2010, Bangladesh Ministry of Education listed BGC Trust University among eight successful private universities in Bangladesh.

History

BGC Trust was founded by a philanthropist and educationist Engr. Afsar Uddin Ahmad who has a commitment to the soil as a front line Freedom Fighter and organizer of the liberation War of Bangladesh provide tailor-made courses and programs to develop individuals, decision makers and entrepreneurs to face challenge emerge from globalization and today’s changing economy.

The establishment of BGC Trust University Bangladesh is a decisive step towards transformation of mere human population into human resources in terms of knowledge, skill and diversification. BGC Trust University is committed to achieve excellence in research and academic scholastic. Admission

Admission Requirements : Minimum GPA must be 3.00 (both in SSC and HSC) or equivalent background. Minimum O-Level in 5 subjects and A-Level in 2 subjects.

Financial Benefits & Scholarship: Various types of financial scholarship are available for deserving candidates. A part from that, it waivers 10% tuition fee base on previous GPA score. Besides, it reduce 30% tuition fee waiver for female, tribal and freedom fighter wards.

There are various scholarship facilities- Chairman’s Scholarship, Vice Chancellor Scholarship. Tuition fee payment system is tremendously flexible for each student. Tuition fee may be paid earlier on semester basis or monthly installation.

Faculty of Business Administration

Business School offers programs leading of professional relevant quality for students seeking employee in a range of business sector. The qualification are appropriate for a broader range of business or public careers.

BBA & MBA program have been developed and refined to provide an extensive and tested grounding in business. This program aims to develop a broad mix of skills thought practical experience an project work to provide a competitive edge in the market place. All courses in business are designed to develop an in dept understanding of core disciplines of business.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)

With the aim of expanding quality education in computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and expose the students to the latest development in the rapidly changing arena, BGC Trust University Bangladesh took the step of establishing the faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology.

The Curricula of all the program has been designed keeping in mind the objective of the courses and after thorough revision of the undergraduate curriculum of the leading national and international pioneers and vetted by international expert from India, Singapore and USA. They are based on the latest syllabus proposed geared towards producing computer professionals, with the ability to adapt to the rapid changes of development in our graduates integrate easily into the job market.

The program intends to generate proficient pharmaceutical professional with adequate knowledge, analytical power and critical thinking. Mission of Department of Law The overall mission of Department of law, BGC Trust University Bangladesh is to prepare students for careers in the diverse legal profession including government, education, banking, foreign service, law reform & legal research, mediation, social activism, labor relations, politics, business, etc through teaching, training, and guidance as well as creating knowledge as to legal matters which help them to meet social, cultural and aesthetic needs of the people as well as to face the challenges of the new millennium and the realities of globalization by exercising dedicated mind for performing duty of faculty members having social involvement, professionally active, competent, and caring mentors. Our more oriented legal teaching method helps the students to analyze any legal issue and makes them caution about human rights which fasten the ultimate speed of implementing administration of justice. Law Department’s curriculum reflects the changing requirements of the legal profession which build the professional ethics in the mind of law students. The Department of Law also preserves an environment in which faculty members discuss ideas about law from where a student will gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between law and society. It is a place where students share ideas and challenge opinions. It also arranges different seminar on burning issues regarding law. The Department of Law offers 4-Year Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) degree and LL.M. The objectives of the Bachelor of Laws with Honors (LL.B.) program and LL.M. are to provide a good, general, critical legal education; to meet the requirements of Bangladesh Bar Council as well as judicial service commission exam to become the judicial officer. So that holders of the degree are eligible for entry to legal profession in Bangladesh; to provide students with skills in legal research, including use of electronic databases and search tools, writing, and advocacy, both formal and informal.

Department of English

English program aims to help students to become more observant, analytic and perspective readers and critic. The degree provides grounding in English literature from middle age to present day which gives opportunity to study key aspect of literature and cultural history of English. America, India and other historic nations. Students are encouraged to think creatively about the relation between literature and others forms of representation. Students have to spend a period of four years to complete the program.
