This opens up events such as the American bombing of Japan and the actions of Al Qaeda to be grouped together. But clearly the two writers are talking about different things. Also, while Valentino says that he is using his own terminology, Malquist uses the term as a synonym for mass murder. The article does not present a source that groups these types of killings together. Therefore violates synthesis, neologism and probably neutrality as well. This article combines the same term used in different sources for different meanings. For example:

 • "For lack of a better term, I refer to episodes of mass killing motivated by these goals as terrorist mass killings.Unlike many conceptions of terrorism, however, this terminology encompasses terrorist violence conducted by states, and explicitly includes such violence when it occurs during war." (Valentino, Final solutions, p. 84)[1]
 • Although Malmquist does not define terrorist mass killings, he writes "A mass murderer as noted is one who kills three or four or more victims at one time as part of an ongoing killing event." (Malquist, Homicide, pp. 42, 45)[2]
