Crawford is a town located in western McLennan County, Texas, United States. It is best-known as the home of former President of the United States George W. Bush. He currently resides at the Prairie Chapel Ranch, which is located just outside Crawford, Texas.
Crawford is part of the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 705. The 2005 census estimates Crawford's population at 789.[1]
The town was incorporated on August 12, 1897.

There are 277 housing units at an average density of 299.8 per square mile (116.3/km2). The racial makeup of the town is 88.37% White, 4.40% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 5.96% from other races, and 1.13% from two or more races. 11.49% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 260 households out of which 41.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.6% are married couples living together, 10.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.8% are non-families. 23.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.71 and the average family size is 3.23.
In the town the population is spread out with 30.8% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.4 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $38,015, and the median income for a family is $39,732. Males have a median income of $31,765 versus $19,653 for females. The per capita income for the town is $15,421. 6.2% of the population and 6.4% of families are below the poverty line. Notable residents
George W. Bush
The Waco suburb is best known for President George W. Bush's Prairie Chapel Ranch, located just outside the town. Crawford is the site of many anti-Iraq War demonstrations including Camp Casey, when Cindy Sheehan purchased 5 acres (20,000 m2) just outside of Crawford and intended to stay until she is granted a face-to-face meeting with the former President.[2] Crawford is the subject of a 2008 documentary film (also called Crawford) about the change brought to the town by Bush's arrival.
