Sageworks, Inc. is an American software company that develops software for financial professionals and small businesses. It is incorporated and headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Sageworks was started on January 6, 1998, by Sarah Tourville (now retired) and Brian Hamilton. From its inception in 1998, the company's mission was to increase the rate of business success by giving people information they can understand and use.
Company history
Sageworks was a development firm for its first two years, as the founders worked to develop a commercially-relevant financial analysis application. The company came to market in late 1999, and ProfitCents was the flagship product of Sageworks. Today thousands of accounting firms and financial institutions rely on Sageworks' technology for helping their customers and for making more informed business decisions. Citibank was Sageworks' first customer and remains a customer today, along with over 7,500 accounting firms, including 30% of the top 100 firms in the US.
Sageworks is built on the belief that data is only valuable to the extent that it can be understood and used. The founders made it their mission to convert hard-to-understand financial data into easy-to-understand language. By doing so, the company hopes to eventually increase the success rate of small business owners.
Sageworks has a patent on the "FIND" Engine Technology, the core engine of Sageworks' two product suites, ProfitCents and Sageworks Analyst. The FIND engine automates a multivariable analysis and translates this financial analysis into plain language narrative reports. ProfitCents is the world's first “e-Financial Analyst” for private companies. Utilizing the "FIND" technology, ProfitCents enables accountants and other financial professionals to quickly produce customizable, written reports for business clients. Sageworks Analyst allows financial professionals to automate projections and forecasting, perform business valuations, and stress test potential loan practicality and other changes to the income statement and balance sheet. Sageworks Analyst is popular in both the community banking[1] and accounting markets.
