Template:Infobox University2 The University of Toronto at Scarborough (UTSC) is a campus of the University of Toronto, with an enrollment of nearly 10,000 full-time and 800 part-time students. It opened in 1964 as Scarborough College, and it is located in the city of Scarborough.

UTSC is the University of Toronto's only campus to offer a bachelor's degree in business administration (B.B.A.). UTSC has recently begun to offer joint programs with Centennial College in journalism, new media, and paramedicine. All the co-op programs of the University of Toronto are located at UTSC, all of which include up to a year of work experience as part of the degree. The majority of degrees at UTSC are specialist degrees, as opposed to majors and minors at other campuses. The campus has major co-op programs in international development studies and management.

Campus

The UTSC campus is dominated by three main structures, which are all inter-connected. They are called the Humanities Wing, the Science Wing and the Bladen Wing, though in reality classes are not truly segregated so much. This will change further as the university continues its expansion program, with a new student centre and a building housing the division of management officially opened in November 3, 2004. The newest building on the campus, the arts & administrative building, opened on October 7, 2005, which will function as the main welcome area to the campus. A number of other additions and upgrades were recently completed, such as a new gallery, new library, new residence and numerous other study spaces and lecture halls.

As part of its partnership with Centennial College, there is also another, adjacent building nearby called the Centennial HP Science & Technology Centre which opened in the fall of 2004.

A new Science building is being constructed and will open in 2008, replacing the Pavilion a temporary structure built in 2001 before the school began rapid expansion due to double co-hort.

The campus spans 300 acres (1.2 km²) of woodlands, trails, and fields, and is on the Highland Creek ravine.

Student life

Unlike the downtown campus of University of Toronto, this campus is not located in the centre of a business community. Therefore, there is not much opportunity for recreation and entertainment outside or inside the campus. Nevertheless, the campus organizations host various programs from time-to-time to bring balance.

Full-time UTSC students are required to pay fees supporting various on campus organizations. One of the largest, the Scarborough Campus Students' Union (SCSU), organizes many events on campus including first year orientation and Mosaic multicultural. The student centre and Bluff's restaurant are also owned and operated by the SCSU.

Other on campus organizations supported by the fees include: the Scarborough Campus Athletic Association (SCAA), the student newspaper The Underground, the Student Residence Council (Residence Students only) and Fusion Radio. This latter organization hosts many events on campus including various shows and broadcasts. As with most other universities, there are a number of different student groups and clubs representing various interests, religions or groups. The approximate number of these groups is around 100. These are mostly smaller in size than the main student unions (listed above).

As with the larger campus downtown, UTSC student life is less focused on campus as the majority of students live within the GTA and not on residence as at schools in smaller cities.

Public transportation to UTSC are provided by the Toronto Transit Commission and the GO Transit public transportation systems. Express busses are provided by the Toronto Transit Commission in the campus for faster transportation.
