The Tour of Utah is a U.S. professional road bicycle racing stage race across the state of Utah. It began as a regional race, the Thanksgiving Point Stage Race, and became the Tour of Utah in 2004. The Tour of Utah takes riders over Utah's climbs and diverse terrain. It was founded and managed by a local family of cycling enthusiasts until 2007, when it was bought by the Larry H. Miller group.

The tour was given UCI status after 2006 but the 2007 edition was postponed due to lack of sponsorship. The 2008 Tour of Utah then returned to U.S. national race status. It had five stages and $75,000 in prizes. It was on the National Racing Calendar. The 2009 race had a prologue, three road stages, a criterium and a time trial. After the 2010 edition, the Tour of Utah was added to the UCI America Tour as a UCI classification 2.1 race, which permits ProTeams to enter if they so choose.[1]

2010 Tour of Utah

Like 2009, the 2010 race had a prologue, three road stages, a criterium and a time trial. It was held August 17-22. UCI Pro Tour teams are not allowed to enter national races so Levi Leipheimer of Team RadioShack entered under the banner of Lance Armstrong's Austin bicycle shop, Mellow Johnny's. Taylor Phinney, with the same Pro Tour team, entered with the Trek-Livestrong team. He won alone on stage 2, came second on stage 3 and second in a two-man finish on stage 5 and beat the previous year's winner, Francisco Mancebo, by 2:30.[2] The only riders to wear the yellow jersey in the race were Phinney, his Trek-LIVESTRONG teammate Alex Dowsett, and Leipheimer.

2011 Tour of Utah

The 2011 Tour of Utah is scheduled to take place between August 9-14, 2011 as a six-day, six-stage race similar to the prior two years. After receiving UCI status, the race confirmed that three ProTeams will compete in the 2011 Tour: You have called {{Contentious topics}}. You probably meant to call one of these templates instead:

Alerting users

  • {{alert/first}} ({{Contentious topics/alert/first}}) is used, on a user's talk page, to "alert", or draw a user's attention, to the contentious topics system if they have never received such an alert before. In this case, this template must be used for the notification.
  • {{alert}} ({{Contentious topics/alert}}) is used, on a user's talk page, to "alert", or draw a user's attention, to the fact that a specific topic is a contentious topic. It may only be used if the user has previously received any contentious topic alert, and it can be replaced by a custom message that conveys the contentious topic designation.
  • {{alert/DS}} ({{Contentious topics/alert/DS}}) is used to inform editors that the old "discretionary sanctions" system has been replaced by the contentious topics system, and that a specific topic is a contentious topic.
  • {{Contentious topics/aware}} is used to register oneself as already aware that a specific topic is a contentious topic.
