It is a subsidiary of Bell Pottinger Group[3], the public relations consultancy founded by Lord Bell and Piers Pottinger, which has been ranked number one for the past four years in PR Week magazine's league tables[4][5]. Bell Pottinger is itself a subsidiary of Chime Communications[6]. The company was formed in 2009 by the merger of Bell Pottinger Corporate & Financial and a competitor, Pelham PR, which had been founded in 2004[7]. In its merged form it is run by Pelham’s founder and managing director, James Henderson[8][9].

The company claims to have 150 clients including Imperial Tobacco, Kurt Geiger, Mulberry, Premier Oil, Qatar Holding, Richemont, TalkTalk, Temasek Holdings, Theo Fennell, TPG, Waitrose, Williams Grand Prix Holding[10][11].
