Legend of the Green Dragon is an online PHP and MySQL based remake of Legend of the Red Dragon.[1]
Gameplay
Gameplay is through clicking on links to do various actions. Players fight monsters in a forest to gain experience and money, in order to gain in levels and purcharse better weapons and armour. When the player gets to level 15, they can then hunt for the dragon and kill it. Killing it results in a new game plus with a slight enhancement of stats and options to choose a different race.
Versions and Licensing
There are two public versions of LotGD under release. Version 0.9.7 is available under the GNU Public License and later version are under the Creative Commons License.
Dragonprime
Various games have been created based on the game engine, with the main source available to download at dragonprime.net. Dragonprime also allows users to create their own modules for their game.
Dragonscales and Dragonbones
A new version of the engine, codenamed 'Dragonbones' is in the process of creation be Dan Hall, aka Caveman Joe, who owns the game Improbable Island based on the LotGD 1.1.0 engine. Due for release in summer 2011, it will be under the BSD License and be a radical overhaul of the system.[2]
