Stottlemyre is an Americanized form of the German name Stadelmayer (also Stadelmaier, Stadelmeyer, and Stadelmeier), a name that originated as an occupational title. In medieval Germany, a Stadelmayer or Stadelmeyer was a man who managed the warehouse of a wholesale merchant. [1]
