Omkar Raut, born on 03rd March 1993, passed his HSC (Science) with First Class, conducted by Mumbai Board, Maharashtra in the year 2010. His objective in selecting Science faculty was to consolidate his Mathematical Foundation which is essential for pursuing higher studies in Economics. He always entertained the ambition of becoming Professional Economist to involve himself in Policy making business at either the corporate level or the Central Banking level. He instilled this ambition in himself since his Junior college days due to his constant interaction with his father who is the Consulting Economist. He also developed significant interest in reading books related to Economics such as “Affluent Society” by John Kenneth Galbraith, “Imagining India” by Nandan Nilekani and “India Unbound” by Gurcharan Das. On this background, he decided to pursue his higher studies in Economics from Symbiosis School of Economics, Symbiosis International University, Pune. He could get admission in this prestigious institute by going through the process of written exam, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. At present, he is studying in SYBSc (3rd Semester) of 3 years integrated degree course in Economics in the same institute. His Cumulative Gross Point Average in the first 2 semesters of this course is 3.122 out of maximum 4 points. In the 2nd Semester of this integrated course, his paper on “Globalization and Financial Flows” was selected in the National level conference held under the auspices of Neothesis society of St. Xavier’s College of Arts and Science, Mumbai. He completed Internship Program of 150 hours in “Trendy Investments”, a finance consultancy firm in Mumbai. He was given the opportunity to work on the project of “Investment pattern of Household sector of India”, under the guidance of well-known financial consultant, Dr. D. Sundararajan. |
