::The name change can be found in the official LLC filing documents for the organization, filed in Idaho. There are several references published on the current website, such as the footers in press releases, "ABOUT: Students for Concealed Carry is a national, non-partisan, grassroots organization comprising over 40,000 college students...", as well as within the Board of Directors page (http://www.concealedcampus.org/board-of-directors.php), citing each person's position within "Students for Concealed Carry." Rather than make complete name changes to the current website (which is lacking in several other areas,) a new website is being launched in the next week or two where the change will be far more apparent. I sit on the Board of Directors for the organization (I realize that this is an 'interest' issue and thus I made no other changes to the article,) and, having voted on the name change, can attest to it being the case. Please do not delete this article.

This is a brand new article. Other people have already added substantially to it. This article is about a national organization with thousands of members, and has received national media attention. Grundle2600 (talk) 21:08, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. In the future it might be easier to start the article on your own page or sandbox and then move it to its own page here to avoid immediate AfD due to a perceived lack of notability due to an unfinished article. TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 21:28, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
An article is not supposed to be written by just one person. Everyone should have a chance to contribute. I don't think any article that's less than a week old should ever be targeted for deletion. Sometimes I see an article in the newspaper that mentions something, and I start an article on it, and then other people with more expertise improve upon the article. Grundle2600 (talk) 02:18, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Articles may be nominated for deletion at any time. If you are in the process of completing an article, please use the sandbox. You may also review WP:CITE, WP:N, WP:ORG, WP:RS, and in particular WP:HELP for everything else you need to know. Please note that there are numerous articles that are either speedy deleted or nominated for AfD for notability, spam, or a variety of other reasons. Your article's notability and full press coverage was demonstrated by other editors when the AfD was placed. This is often a very good way to speedily add much needed sources quickly for new articles when used properly. - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 02:38, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I second what Jameson said above, you can also use {{inuse}} or {{underconstruction}}, although that doesn't always stop an article from being tagged for deletion in some form. At the bare minimum, the first saved aspect should assert some notability to stave off immediate deletion. The onus is on the creator to show the creation meets WP:N, WP:V etc and then others can tweak. TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 02:42, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD

AfD Nomination has been withdrawn. - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 21:15, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why isn't this showing up in the list in the box at the right of the article?

I saw on the Pink Pistols article there was a box with a list of articles on gun groups. So I added the same tag that was in those articles. But now when the box shows up, this new group is not in the box. Does anyone know why? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grundle2600 (talkcontribs) 03:10, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops! I see I forgot to sign that. Sorry. That was me! Anyway, I removed the box from the article, because it didn't include this article in the list. Grundle2600 (talk) 03:14, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

whoops I think I just put it back. I made it show, didn't see your second comment. I don't know how that category listing is created. Leave it there a sec and let me see if I can make it show TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 03:23, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, no idea, I updated the categories and listed it in the parent article. I'd suggest asking someone associated with the parent group TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 03:28, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed this problem. Yaf (talk) 03:59, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, both of you! Grundle2600 (talk) 04:09, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That one was all Yaf, I think. Thanks, Yaf TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 04:15, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome :-) Have also added this page to the Wikiproject Firearms project, and additionally listed it as a new article on the project page. This last step should also help get more content/interest from Firearms project members. Yaf (talk) 04:21, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh that's great. What I added when I found it in AfD was sheer google search as I'm completely unfamiliar with the organization. TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 04:43, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

Can anyone think of material to fill out the lead? I ask solely because I think a longer lead with make the format look less odd from the wide info box, if that makes sense. I'm trying to think of what else might work well in the lead. Thoughts? TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 15:17, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The purpose of the lead is to summarize the article, not to look good next to the info box. The lead is fine the way it is. Grundle2600 (talk) 05:43, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but it doesn't hurt for it to look better. I think more needs to be added to the summary. I'll work on it next week. TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 15:59, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As long as it makes the lead better, not just bigger, go for it! Grundle2600 (talk) 20:53, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Empty holster

A picture of an empty holster protest worn on a belt would be a nice addition to the article. Anyone got one? Yaf (talk) 21:14, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Organization Name Change.

This organization changed their name in December 2010 to Students for Concealed Carry. I don't have enough experience to go ahead and move the article and create a redirect. Can another kind soul with more experience do that? Reidksmith (talk) 23:51, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

can you find evidence of this name change? It's certainly not evident on their official pages. StarM 02:40, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The name change can be found in the official LLC filing documents for the organization, filed in Idaho. There are several references published on the current website, such as the footers in press releases, "ABOUT: Students for Concealed Carry is a national, non-partisan, grassroots organization comprising over 40,000 college students...", as well as within the Board of Directors page (http://www.concealedcampus.org/board-of-directors.php), citing each person's position within "Students for Concealed Carry." Reidksmith (talk) 18:40, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response. When reliable sources are available to backup your claim, the article can be moved & URLs updated when the new one launches. How does that sound? StarM 19:58, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The new website has been launched and confirms the change. Soderstrom 9:02, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
