:It certainly seems possible. There are book references to Gandhi's teachings being implemented via sit-ins in India, ''after'' his experiences with non-violent resistance in South Africa. In a quick search, i couldn't find the actual expression "sit-in" related to 1906 protests in South Africa, but it is entirely possible that sit-ins did occur, yet the expression wasn't used until later. More research on this wouldn't hurt. [[User:Richard Myers|Richard Myers]] ([[User talk:Richard Myers|talk]]) 05:53, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Gandhi, sit-ins in South Africa?

The first sentence of the "History" section reads: "Sit-ins were first widely employed by Mohandas Gandhi in South African strikes." Is that correct? I know he used various forms of non-cooperation, but I'm not aware of any sit-ins. What is the source for that? Brucehartford (talk) 17:48, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
