Antandrus observed that Wikipedia editors who return after they cease to edit tend to do so with "diminished dedication" and for a "shorter duration." This is certainly true in my case. Why? Well, the atmosphere on this website seems to be more poisonous today than it was previously; perhaps it's always been this way, but I'm now more aware of it. More importantly, however, I'm at a point in my life where I have significant real-life obligations which must take precedence over Wikipedia and which have diminished my interest in spending a lot of time |

Well, the atmosphere on this website seems to be more poisonous today than it was previously; perhaps it's always been this way, but I'm now more aware of it. More importantly, however, I'm at a point in my life where I have significant real-life obligations which must take precedence over Wikipedia and which have diminished my interest in spending a lot of time on the internet. This is as good a time as any to retire, because I'm pleased with my contributions to the encyclopedia itself and to [[WP:DRV]], and I'm satisfied that I've tied up most of my loose ends here. Thanks to Hobit, Mkativerata, DGG, and other DRV regulars for all the interesting discussions over the years, and to Golbez and Finetooth for collaborating with me on [[List of Governors of New Jersey]] in 2010, which was, at least for me, a great experience. Well, the atmosphere on this website seems to be more poisonous today than it was previously; perhaps it's always been this way, but I'm now more aware of it.
