Jacob David Philip Oram (born 28 July 1978, Palmerston North, Manawatu, New Zealand) is a New Zealand cricketer who is a regular fixture in the current New Zealand Test side. In 17 Test matches, he has made 1002 Test runs, making him one of 36 New Zealand Test cricketers to have scored 1000 runs. Despite his relatively high career batting average of 43, he usually bats around 6 or 7 for New Zealand, fulfilling the role of all-rounder. Oram has struggled in Test cricket since the 2004 tour of England, however, when he only got two wickets. Big scores have also eluded him with the bat, although he did make a stroke-filled 126 not out against Australia on the 2004-05 tour there. Oram has been a constant fixture in the one-day side, and reached as high as 5 in the ICC ODI Player Rankings as a bowler. Cricinfo describes him as a player with "high agility in the field".
