Goose Island is a small island located in the Hutchinson River in the Baychester section of The Bronx. The one acre island has been designated as a 'Harbor Herons Preserve' by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, under its "Forever Wild" initiative to protect the most ecologically valuable lands within the five boroughs.[1] Goose island is part of the Thomas Pell Wildlife Sanctuary and the Hunter Island Marine Zoology and Geology Sanctuary in Pelham Bay Park. [2] The island is off limits to the public.
