I've added what is an essential sub-heading for a new section on the issue of clothing. But WHAT is the Qatari position on this? I cannot find any press material about it; will they insist that female fans (for example) are "properly" attired (by Islamic standards) or will they allow bikinis and the like in Football grounds? This must be covered in the article. Any press links would be welcome. [[User:AiFWww|AiFWww]] ([[User talk:AiFWww|talk]]) 13:10, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

The Qatari government has stated (can't find it now) that all women will have to fully covered and wear headscarves. The stadiums will be segregated to keep men and women apart.

Clothing

I've added what is an essential sub-heading for a new section on the issue of clothing. But WHAT is the Qatari position on this? I cannot find any press material about it; will they insist that female fans (for example) are "properly" attired (by Islamic standards) or will they allow bikinis and the like in Football grounds? This must be covered in the article. Any press links would be welcome. AiFWww (talk) 13:10, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Qatari government has stated (can't find it now) that all women will have to fully covered and wear headscarves. The stadiums will be segregated to keep men and women apart.

Corruption

Newsweek has uncovered evidence in alleged bribe scandal regarding votes for 2022 and 2018 world cup, Newsweek has reported that it has highly placed source who confirmed that World Cup votes were rigged so as to make that there was a a fair play in voting process when Qatar and Russia won the their subsequent votes, but the truth is quite the opposite, Newsweek alleges that for instance Qatar has bribed 10 Fifa officials = with 10 million US dollar bribe each, Newsweek has also stated that it'll be publishing whole story in due course, Sepp Blatter is among Fifa officials that have been bribed, if allegations prove to be true, Septic Bladder and all other fifa officials involved in vote bribe scandal could face criminal charges and long spell in prison if found guilty. http://offthebench.nbcsports.com/2010/12/14/jonathan-alter-qatar-may-have-paid-10-mil-for-each-fifa-vote/

General

Could somebody kindly edit this page so it actually makes sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stillmans39 (talkcontribs) 02:30, 9 January 2011 (UTC) This is one of the most badly-written, one-sided, uninformative articles I have ever read on Wikipedia and brings shame on the entire project.[reply]

Merge with 2022 FIFA World Cup Page

Probably time to merge this with the actual 2022 World Cup page, especially considering most of the info is the same. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.111.167.182 (talk) 07:42, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stadiums or stadia?

The article, as currently drafted, is inconsistent.Headhitter (talk) 13:57, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Police shut out fans at Asian Cup

I found this article about what happened at the final match of the Asian Cup 2011. Can anyone include this information in this article? Here is the link: http://english.aljazeera.net/sport/football/2011/01/201112921940597529.htmlCAroom 13:40, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2nd Paragraph

I would delete the entire 2nd paragraph. The article cited in the 1st sentence is just a match report. It does nothing to substantiate that it gave a feel for what the WC would be like. Additionally, it lends no support to the second sentence which appears to be just made up or taken from an uncited source. (i.e. no mention of fans traveling from other nations and no discussion of the game's impact on Qatar's image.) The 3rd and 4th sentences are suspect too. First of all the cited link is dead. Second of all I dont see how this tournament hosted 11 years ahead of the actual event and without the full complement of stadia would serve as a warm up, especially as the confederations cup hosted a year before a world cup is traditionally considered the warm up.

Most importantly I dont see how it contributes to the topic and it also seems to break the more natural flow between the 1st and 3rd paragraphs. Pschoenb (talk) 18:42, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
