Career highlights and awards

Gert Dorbek (born 10 June 1985 in Tallinn, Estonia) is an Estonian professional basketball player. He is currently playing for BC Kalev/Cramo at the guard position.[1] He is a nephew of Aivar Kuusmaa, former Panathinaikos B.C. shooter and Soviet champion. He is not related to Martin Dorbek.

Club career

Gert Dorbek started his basketball career with Tiit Sokk's Basketball School in youth level and made his debut in KML with now-defunct club Nybit. Until 2008 he played for various teams in Estonia and won an Estonian championship with BC Kalev/Cramo and two Estonian Cups in 2003 and 2006, with Nybit and Kalev/Cramo, respectively. In 2008 he signed a contract with Ukrainian SuperLeague team Ferro-ZNTU.[2] His span with the Ukrainian team lasted for 4 months, when the Zaporizhia-based team terminated his contract and he returned to Estonia, Tallinna Kalev until the end of the season.[3] Since 2009 he has been playing for BC Kalev/Cramo, with whom he has won the Korvpalli Meistriliiga twice, reached BBL Final Four in 2012 and taken part in VTB United League and ULEB EuroCup.

International career

Gert Dorbek is a frequent member of the Estonia national basketball team, competing in 2007, 2009 and 2011 EuroBasket qualifiers. He is a candidate of the national team for the EuroBasket 2013 qualification as of 2012.[4]
