Itron Inc. (NasdaqITRI) is a global technology company that builds solutions that measure, monitor and manage energy and water. Itron has nearly 8,000 utilities in more than one hundred contries using their technology to optimize the delivery and use of energy and water. Itron's products include electricity, gas, water and thermal energy measurement and contron technology; communications systems; software; and professional services.[1]

Originally a subsidiary of Avista, Itron is now a publicy traded-company that in 2011 reported revenue of $2.4 billion.

Itron employs over 9,000 in 130 countries. A corporate restructure in 2011 cut about 7.5% of the workforce and resulted in the closure of six sites mostly in Europe and South America.[2] Part of this restructuring process involved increased marketing and manufacturing activities in China and Latin America.[3]
