History

The company was founded in 2011 by Lucas Belenky and Björn Hammar. Top Third Ventures is primarily engaged in the creation of low carbon products and the selling of carbon credits from these products.[1] Another focus of the company's product development efforts is limiting human exposure to smoke and toxic gases which result from inefficient combustion.[2]

On February 28, 2012, Top Third Ventures participated in a community based product testing, for efficient stoves. This was hosted by the United Nations Development Programme and Green World Campaign Kenya.[3]

Products

The first product offered by Top Third Ventures is an improved cook stove. The stove addresses the health and environmental impacts associated with traditional stoves. It contributes to the Global Alliance for Cleaner Cookstoves. The Top Third Venture stove reduces dependency and expenditure on these fuels by reducing wood consumption by more than 50%.

Sales Model

The stove business is a brand (design), distribution (sales), appropriate technology (robust product for local foods & habits), with carbon financing and scale (big numbers).
