The Southeastern United States refers to a region in the southeastern part of the United States. It usually consists of the following states and their capital cities:
- Alabama - Montgomery
- Florida - Tallahassee
- Georgia - Atlanta
- Louisiana - Baton Rouge
- Mississippi - Jackson
- North Carolina - Raleigh
- South Carolina - Columbia, South Carolina
- Tennessee - Nashville
and sometimes:
Geography & History
Geographically speaking the aforementioned states are considered to be in the Southeastern United States. Historically speaking all but Kentucky were in the passe Confederate States of America. Passe because it ceased to exist in April 1865. The Confederate States of America was short lived from April 1861 - April 1865 which is the period of United States history none as the American Civil War.
