Satte Pe Satta is the story of seven brothers living on a large farmhouse. The first half of the movie shows the life of the brothers who grew up under the helm of their oldest brother Ravi ([[Amitabh Bachchan]]). Parentless and lacking basic human manners, these young adults who are also [[misogynists]] sustain their livelihood by farming. A sequence of events leads Ravi to fall in love with a nurse named Indu ([[Hema Malini]]) whom he eventually marries. The remaining six brothers learn to adjust with new woman in their lives as she does with them, trying to civilize them. Soon enough, they all fall in love with a group of six women (and the feeling is mutual) and shortly things take a turn.

The group of women is a caring troupe for a physically challenged girl named Seema Singh ([[Ranjeeta]]) who is still single. She happens to be Ranjit Singh's ([[Amjad Khan]]) niece. Since the niece has recently turned twenty one, the uncle wants the niece dead so that he can claim all her wealth. The following part of the movie involves plots by Ranjit Singh to kill his niece, which involve the use of Ravi's look-alike Babu (played again by [[Amitabh Bachchan]]) and replacing Ravi with Babu. The brothers come to Ravi's aid once he is kidnapped and replaced by Babu.

During a traditional ceremony between husband and wife, Babu refuses to acknowledge Indu as his wife and discloses the truth about his identity, his real intent to kill Seema and the whereabouts of Ravi. Then he joins with the six brothers who break-in to Ranjit's hideout and free Ravi.

This cult film went on to become a blockbuster hit after an initial starting problem. It is still applauded for superstar [[Amitabh Bachchan]]'s flamboyant portrayal of the eldest brother Ravi. His charisma, style and over the top performance is still talked about. The movie is also remembered for Bachchan's one of the best performances till date of the two identical persons, one good and one bad. Especially, for the bad one as he had dawned a different get-up of a ruthless killer, with grey hair and contact lenses. The epitome of all scenes is when this killer 'Babu' comes out of jail and walks towards the camera. It spoke volumes about this gifted actor.
This cult film went on to become a super-hit after an initial starting problem. The movie is best remembered for Bachchan's scene where he is sloshed in alcohol at Ranjit's place and describes his brothers one by one. Satte Pe Satta is one of the rare movies where Bachchan played a negative role of a ruthless killer, with grey hair and contact lenses. The background score for Babu was also popular and has been copied for several movies that followed.
