Rachel Gorelick Sterne Haot (née Sterne) is an American businesswoman and entrepreneur who currently serves as the Chief Digital Officer for the City of New York, heading the NYC Digital program funded by the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment.[1][2]

Career

In 2006, Haot founded GroundReport, a global crowdsourced news startup.[3] She also served as an adjunct professor of Social Media and Entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School.[4] In 2012, she was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum,[5] and serves on the digital advisory boards of Women@NBCU[6] and the 2014 Super Bowl Hosting Committee.[citation needed] She was recognized by Forbes in 2012 as part of their annual 30 under 30 list of "young disruptors, innovators and entrepreneurs"[7]

Personal life

Haot was born in Manhattan, and lived eight years in Brooklyn before moving to Dobbs Ferry, New York, where she grew up.[15] In July 2012 she married Max Haot, a Belgian-American who is the founder and chief executive of Livestream. The couple currently resides in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.[16] In 2011 Haot was featured in Vogue Magazine.[15]
