Fuhua Primary School is a primary school in Jurong East ST 13, Singapore. Fuhua was established in the early 1940s. It was founded in 1941 as a village school by a teacher named Goh Si Ren. Known originally as Fu Hua Public School, it was built by a group of public spirited villagers who were determined to provide the best education for their young. It has its humble beginnings as a village school which was originally situated at Upper Jurong Road in the vicinity of the present Nanyang Technological University. Fuhua became a government aided school in the late 1960s. The school was relocated at its present site in 1984 to make way for development and has since become a government school.

The present building was officially opened in 1986 by the then Member of Parliament for Jurong, Mr Ho Kah Leong.

One of the previous principals, Mr Billy Goh, chose the design of the school uniform from a Japanese fashion magazine.

In 2000, it temporarily moved to the premises of Boon Lay Primary School while a new building was being built. The new campus was completed in late 2004. In January 2008, Fuhua Primary School and Pandan Primary School merged. The merged school remained at the Jurong East St 13 premises and the name of Fuhua Primary School was retained.

There are about 1,900 pupils enrolled in the school. As it is located in a prime location in Jurong East, it is very popular.

The school is known for its I.T. prowess, as its niche area, and has won several awards in that area, as in others. The current principal is Miss Fuziah Binte Muhammad Taha, while the current vice-principals are Mr Ong and Mr Low, vice-principals of Fuhua.

The school badge has two colours - beige and chocolate brown. The earthly colours signify the dignity of labour and the cultivation of the correct attitude in the use of our hands. The badge incorporates the letters F & H, the initials of the school and the school motto - FRUGALITY AND HONESTY. The whole design is enclosed in a ring and it depicts the strong character of the school, working together as a team in unity and harmony, continual growth, and development of the school.

Fuhua Primary resides in a quiet neighbourhood along Jurong East St 13. Though sporting a new and modern facade, the school has a rich history that spans over 60 years. The school's survival as an institution was only possible through the tenacious spirit of the school's founding members who believed that education was the primary means through which their children could move up the social strata and lead more comfortable lives.

The school is equipped with a canteen with eight food stalls, six floors, around 35 classrooms, a bookshop, a sickbay, a dental clinic, a Head of Department room, a Counselor's room, a room for extra coaching, an Equipment room, a media library, 2 Audio-Visual rooms, and a staff room. There is also a basketball court and a soccer field. The public can use the field.

The school currently holds two sessions; one for those studying in Primary 3 to those studying in the graduating Primary 6, which takes place from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, and another for those studying for the new Primary 1 pupils and the Primary 2 pupils which take place from 12:00 to 6:00.

Some of the school's co-curricular activities:

  • Malay Dance
  • Chinese Dance
  • Indian Dance
  • Track and Field
  • Infocomm Club
  • Brass Band
