Tara Priya (born Tara Priya Chandra, December 3, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter and vocalist from San Francisco, California. Priya’s music reflects a wide variety of influences, primarily soul, pop and jazz.

Career

While writing and recording her two EPs, Tara Priya: The EP (2011) and Goodbye, Romeo (2012), Priya has toured the world to perform, most notably as a guest performer on BBC London 94.9 in December 2011.[1] She also performed at the MidPoint Music Festival in Cincinnati,[2] Indie Week Canada in Toronto, The NAMM Show in 2011[3] and at Bacardi NH7 Weekender in India[4] that same year. In January 2012, Priya released her first radio single in Japan, where it peaked at number 25[5] on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, and number six[6] on the Billboard Japan Digital and Airplay chart.

In 2011, Priya also won the Eighteenth Annual Billboard Song Contest,[7] the Great American Song Contest,[8] the Dallas Songwriters Contest,[9] and was nominated as one of the Best Emerging Artists by The Deli Magazine.[10] Priya was also selected as one of three pop genre finalists of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.[11]

Clear Entertainment signed her to their artist roster.[12] The following March, Priya showcased at [[South by Southwest|SXSW] 2013 in Austin, TX.[13]
