In 2010, during the school's midwinter break, the Spanish Club traveled to Puerto Rico as part of a cultural immersion trip.

SAR's Model UN team is one of the most prestigious clubs in the school, placing in second at the Yeshiva University National Model UN competition in 2013. A favorite game among the students and staff is Mystery Maccabee (the Jewish version of Secret Santa). Poems are frequently given in correspondence with the gifts, although this tradition is only done by few elite members of the student body.

Salanter Akiba Riverdale High School (acronym: SAR High School) is a Modern Orthodox Yeshiva day school in Riverdale, New York City. It was founded in 2003 by Rabbi Naftali Harcsztark. The school is affiliated with SAR Academy, which is also in Riverdale, Bronx, New York City and a little over fifty percent of the ~500 students attending SAR High School come from the Academy. The school's current Principal is Rabbi Tully Harcsztark, who has guided the creation of the school, both in terms of philosophy and structure, since the planning stages. Other administrators include Rabbi Jonathan Kroll (Judaic Studies), Ms. Lisa Schlaff (Judaic Studies), Dr. Mark Shinar (General Studies), Dr. Rivka Schwartz (General Studies) and Nancy Lerea (Admissions).

Sports

All of SAR's teams are members of the Yeshiva High School Athletic League, which is composed of many of the Jewish day schools throughout the New York metropolitan area.

Sports teams have been successful in SAR's short history, capturing the Varsity Girls Basketball title, JV Boys Basketball title, Varsity Boys Baseball title,Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls Soccer title and Boys and Girls Track Team championship, as well as runner-ups in Girls Hockey and JV Hockey. The Boys Varsity Soccer team has won its division five years in a row. All of the sport teams carry the same team name, SAR Sting, as well as the same logo, a bee.

The SAR teams are: JV Boys Softball, V Girls Softball, V Boys Hockey, V Girls Hockey, V Boys Soccer, V Girls Soccer, JV Girls Soccer, JV Boys soccer, JV Boys Basketball, V Boys Basketball, V Girls Volleyball, JV Girls Volleyball, V Boys Volleyball, V Boys Baseball, Boys and Girls Track, V Boys Tennis, Chess Team, Boys Varsity Bowling Team, and the V Boys Wrestling team.

SAR's College Bowl team was featured in the 2012-2013 season of MSG Varsity's the Challenge. They were the Bronx/Brooklyn champions but lost in the following round.
