There should be some mention of the discovery that these have synapses on them. I don't know enough about it myself to do so.
This site should be merged with the small site NG2 glia, as these are exactly the same cells. See for example Nishiyama (2009) Nature Neuroscience, Zhu (2011) Development, Clarke (2012) Journal of Neuroscience.
