Shiratsuyu was the lead ship of her class of destroyer in the Imperial Japanese Navy. Her name means "Shimmering Dew" (White Dew).

On 15 June 1944, Shiratsuyu was escorting 1st Supply Force from Davao. She was sunk in a collision with the tanker Seiyo Maru 90 miles (165 km) southeast of Surigao Strait (09°09′N 126°51′E / 9.150°N 126.850°E / 9.150; 126.850), after which her depth charges exploded among survivors.
