On 5 May 2013 it was announced he will be the next Bishop of Manchester[4] He was educated at Manchester Grammar School, competing in the International Mathematical Olympiad in 1975,[5] and King's College, Cambridge.[6] After a period of study at Queen's College, Birmingham he was ordained in 1983.[7] His career began with a curacy at St Mary Handsworth,[8] after which he was Team Vicar at Maltby[disambiguation needed], then Bramley[disambiguation needed] before elevation to the Episcopate. A keen hill walker,[9] Bishop David is married to Sue, with two children.
