Raza is the incorrect pronunciation of RIDHA, which is an Arabic word meaning CONTENTMENT.

Ridha is a well established doctrine validated by both the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah (practices) of the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him). Says the Holy Qur'an:

"The true believers (mu'minin) are pleased with God." (5:122)

It is also said in the Holy Book:

"Verily, Allah is pleased with true believers" (48:18)

The Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) has said:

"He who is satisfied with God gets real taste of iman."

Ridha is of two kinds. Ridha (pleasure) of Allah with His servant, and ridha of the servant with (the decree) Allah. God's pleasure with the servant is manifest in His bounties and gifts both material and spiritual; and the servant's pleasure with God is the name of his obedience to God's commands and submission to His Will. Actually man's pleasure is the result of God's pleasure, since, unless God is kind to him he cannot be obedient to God. Ridha on the part of man is really his determination to accept God's decree irrespective of whether it is favourable or unfavourable, and whether it is in the shape of fire of God's wrath (jalal) or it is illuminated by the rays of His Beauty (jamal). Being burnt or illuminated does not make any difference to him because both spring from God Almighty and whatever comes from the Beloved is welcome.

Raza is a U.S. based Pakistani singer and musician, notable for successfully introducing electronic/dance music into Pakistani pop. Raza experienced only underground success, and the album was largely ignored by the mainstream Pakistani media due to poor marketing. Since then, it has achieved something of a cult status among young Pakistanis.

Raza is derived from Indic languages notably Sanskrit. With slight variations in pronunciation it is a word commonly used in languages like Bangla, Urdu and Hindi today. The word Raza also carries the same meaning in all three languages mentioned. It is often used as a popular male first or last name in South East Asian countries. Raza is defined as a king, a male sovereign, a ruler, a royal person. Sometimes it is pronounced as "Raaja", the antonym being "Raani", which means a female sovereign, a Queen. "Raza Raani" is a common term used to describe the royal heads, carrying the same meaning as King and Queen.

Raza is the usual name of an eminent Indian artist, S.H. Raza who works in France while maintaining strong ties to India.

Similar words that have been assimilated into the English vocabulary are Sultan, Mogul etc.
